If you had a sleepless night due to scratching and squeaking in your ceiling and your walls, you're not alone. Recent changes in the weather have phones ringing off the hook at local critter control businesses. The problem? Bats!
Wade Meyer says they field about 200 calls per year from people asking them to get rid of the pesky flying mammals. Meyer says the only way to do it is to seal off all the entrances and create an "exit-only" valve. hey come out here three feet away from their original opening, drop out, fly away.
Meyer says the metro's bat problem is growing, in part, to new homes in the suburbs that aren't properly sealed. The cost is between $300 and $1,500 to bat-proof your home.
