What Do Fox Tracks Look Like?

Fox tracks look like other types of canine footprints. The pests have four toes and a distinct triangular paw pad. Though similar to coyotes, fox prints tend to be narrower. They are symmetrical and typically appear in a straight line due to the animal’s alternating gait. Drag marks often accompany fox tracks in the snow.

Difference between Gray and Red Fox Tracks

Observing a fox’s footprints may provide information about the species that made the tracks. Both red and gray foxes have sharp claws, but these usually don’t leave an indentation in gray fox prints. In other words, any fox tracks without tiny claw marks above the toes probably belong to the gray variety.

Controlling a Fox Problem

Foxes are gifted diggers. They can create foundation issues when they dig holes and burrow under homes. As predators, the animals may also cause problems for farmers and pet owners. To avoid serious damage to yards, contact Critter Control after any fox track sightings.
