Pigeons travel in flocks of 20 to 30 birds and have unique navigational skills, which include using the sun as a guide. They live in busy cities and parks, gathering in streets and public venues to look for food such as seeds, fruits, plants, and crumbs. Since many people feed the pests, the birds overrun open, public grounds where they always have plenty to eat.

Pigeon Sounds

These birds have a variety of songs and calls they use to communicate. Their songs are used to attract mates and sound like throaty coos repeated over and over. Pigeon calls usually don’t bother people because they are soft and barely audible. The birds may grunt when they are distressed, as well. In large groups, pigeons create a lot of noise and annoy people.

Problems, Control & Removal

Not only are pigeons noisy and annoying in public places, they leave droppings everywhere they go. Their excrement may carry a number of diseases, including histoplasmosis, salmonella, and E. coli. When faced with pigeon infestations, property owners should contact the wildlife control experts at Critter Control. Our trained technicians safely and quickly remove the problem and stop the spread of diseases.
